Preparation

Preheat your oven to 200°C / 400°F. Place the half baguettes on an oven rack and bake for 10–12 minutes. Once baked, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool for 5 to 10 minutes.

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a frying pan. Brown the meatballs over high heat for 5 minutes, turning until evenly golden. Season with salt and pepper.

Add the tomato sauce and small tomato wedges to the meatballs. Season to taste, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

While the meatballs are cooking, gently sauté the red onion in a separate pan with a knob of butter. Add 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and set aside.

Take the cooled half baguettes and slice them lengthwise. Generously spread barbecue sauce over the bread.
